Activate the new Digital Authentication for a smoother banking experience

We've launched* Digital Authentication to bring you a safer and faster way to bank, online and on mobile, without the need to carry a physical Security Device.

Activate Digital Authentication on the HSBC China Mobile Banking app now to log on or make transactions, the new way.

* This new feature will be made available to existing customers in HSBC China online and mobile banking, in phases from October 2022 onwards. You'll see a notification pop up on your mobile banking log on screen when this feature is ready for you to use.

Simplify your HSBC digital banking experience

The screen log on with PIN

Mobile banking

You can now log on to or make transactions in mobile banking with just your 6-digit PIN. Enable biometric authentication such as Face, Touch or Fingerprint ID for an even faster banking experience.

Online banking

You can log on to or make transactions by scanning a QR code generated in online banking, with your mobile device and entering your 6-digit PIN. Note: for your security, you'll be asked to follow additional steps when you use a new browser for the first time. Once you've approved it as 'trusted', you won't need to complete additional steps when you use that browser. See the 'trusted browser' section for more information.

You can still log on with your username and password. Note: you'll still need to use Digital Authentication to perform certain actions on the mobile banking app, such as changing your password or adjusting your transaction limits. This better protects your account.

Forgot your password? New convenient ways to reset it

After you've activated Digital Authentication, you can scan the QR code on the online banking page in the HSBC China Mobile Banking app, then enter your 6-digit PIN and an SMS one-time code to reset your password.

How to activate Digital Authentication

You can only complete the activation in the HSBC China Mobile Banking app. Please set up Digital Authentication when your HSBC China Mobile Banking app prompts you to do so. It will only take 1–2 minutes.

We also recommend that you enable biometric authentication, such as Face, Touch or Fingerprint ID for an even faster banking experience. Learn more about it.

* Once you've activated Digital Authentication successfully, your physical Security Device will be disabled.

How to set a trusted browser for online banking

You can set your preferred browser as a 'trusted browser' so you don't have to complete the verification process every time you log on to online banking.

To keep your account safe, we suggest that you only do so with browsers on your personal device, and that you avoid logging on to online banking on a public computer.

Your Digital Authentication can only be activated on one mobile device at a time. Here's how to reset it, depending on your situation.
