Global Banking (GB) is one of the most traditional departments growing with HSBC history of more than 140 years. We provide financial services to top tier customers including multi-national corporates (MNC) listed on Fortune 500 and FTSE 100, large PRC corporates under State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) and financial institutions. This involves working closely with a variety of product groups to deliver a comprehensive range of services such as; treasury and capital markets, transaction banking, strategic advisory and investment management and the origination and ongoing management of the credit and lending product. Globally, we operate in over 60 countries and territories servicing 4,000 group customers around the world.

Our target is to be the local bank for MNC investing in China and the international bank for PRC corporates going out of China. Leveraging our extensive network and financial services experiences around the world, we aim to establish long-term global relationship with customers and furnish them with international solutions.

Clients' business needs are strategically managed by HSBC Business or HSBC Corporate offering the best services and solutions with CMB's comprehensive range of products -- Corporate Lending, Treasury, Trade Services/Financing, Payments and Cash Management, Investment, and Insurance.

Retail Banking and Wealth Management focuses on providing banking and wealth solutions to meet the needs of personal customers. HSBC Premier and HSBC Advance are the two global propositions of HSBC. Leveraging the Bank's strong brand, financial strength, global expertise and international connectivity, we are able to provide customers with a unique banking experience, and offer a wide range of financial solutions to satisfy their needs in different life stages.

HBCN HTS, which was established in August 2009, forms a key part of the bank’s strategy in mainland China. Through integrating the technology platforms and operations of the bank we aim to re-define the customer experience and drive down the unit cost of production. Aligning with the Group HTS strategies, as well as local business participation models and strategic objectives, HBCN HTS focuses on the following key deliverables:

• Financial: to increase productivity and cost efficiency and to create business value through the use of technology and consistent processes.
• Customer: to provide high-quality, customer-oriented, reliable international banking services.
• Processes: to streamline/automate product launches and delivery processes and to establish seamless interfaces with our international network.
• Technology: to facilitate better understanding of our customers and sales processes and to support flexible platforms that deliver customer solutions efficiently.
• People: to ensure that we have an engaged team who are developing to their full potential.

As at the end of Jun 2011, over 1,365 colleagues located in 24 cities across China were working together delivering HTS services, which including the following departments:

• Change Delivery
  HBCN Change Delivery manages the end-to-end delivery of "Change the Bank" initiatives for banking businesses – from the creation of business cases, to the post implementation reviews. We focus on the delivery and realization of commercial benefits, through products, processes, and systems standardization. Materially improve quality and efficiency of the services we provide to our customers through process elimination, re-engineering and automation.
• Chief of Staff
  HBCN Chief of Staff is an administration function within HTS to establish a more commercial and transparent understanding of costs and an improved consulting and business oriented culture within HTS; as well as to ensure that HTS adds value to the Bank, is well governed in a risk controlled manner, and delivers high quality services in an efficient manner.
• Procurement
  The objective of GPU is to provide professional purchasing service to the Bank through centralization and best practice in order to maximize the leverage from our total spend and help deliver best value for money.
• Security and Fraud Risk
  Security and fraud risk (HBCN BSE) is responsible to identify, assess, monitor and take timely actions to protect employees, customers, and the Bank's assets and information from real and potential threats by either accidental or premeditated means so as to prevent financial loss and damage to reputation.
• Service Delivery
  HBCN Service Delivery looks after the key processes and services as: Account Opening and Maintenance, RMB Payment and Collection, FCY Inward and Outward Remittance, Counter Services, AML Central Investigation, Wealth Management Operation, ATM and Card Acquiring Operation, Home Mortgage Loan Operation, Corporate Credit Service, HR Operation, Customer Complaint Handling, Resolution Identification & Service Consulting, HUB Operation & Support, Procedure Manual Control etc.
  By delivering service to all the Customer Groups (GB, CMB, PFS and PB), Product Groups (PCM, TSC, GM etc) and HSBC Rural Bank in China, HBCN SD is a broad platform where you can explore and get solid knowledge about banking products and services and how system, process and people work together in a banking environment with dynamic regulatory changes.
• Software Delivery
  HBCN Software Delivery (SwD) focuses to support HBCN business strategy and growth through delivering system solutions. SwD provides services including system solution provision, technical design and consultant, software development, defect resolution, incident management, ongoing production support and more.

A Dynamic Risk Function. A Strategic Partner.

HBCN Risk, headed by the Chief Risk Officer HBCN, has functional responsibility for risk management in support of HBCN’s business strategies and in accordance with the Group Risk Strategy. HBCN Risk assumes responsibilities for managing retail and wholesale credit, operational and market risks through working closely with the relevant Customer Groups and functions.

Specific accountabilities of HBCN Risk include: establishment and update of risk guidelines and policies; approval of retail and wholesale credit applications; monitoring of risk profiles and emerging risk issues; portfolio analysis, stress testing and reporting; and delivery of a consistent people management strategy to attract, develop and retain the best people.

In the CNQ office in Shanghai, HBCN Risk has various teams responsible for Retail Credit Risk, Wholesale Credit Risk, Lending Services, Credit Policy, Risk Strategy, and Operational Risk and Control respectively. In addition, there are also three regional offices in Beijing, Shenzhen and Chongqing, providing coverage to HBCN’s entire network.

HSS in China mainly provides sub-Custody and Clearing services to QFIIs (Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors) investing in A shares and also to B-share investors. In 1992 we became the first foreign custodian bank to have an onshore B-share sub-custody operation in the country. We also provide custody services and fund administration services to local institutional investors like insurance companies, fund companies and commercial banks for their outbound investment. We have a dominant market share of the custody business for QFII and B-share investors and we have the largest custody and clearing operation among foreign custodian banks in China. Because of our market share, global custody network, experience and knowledge, we have a very strong and influential relationship with China's securities regulators.

From 2006 HSS entered a new arena of securities services. With the launch that year of the Qualified Domestic Institutional Investors (QDII) program in China, HSS earned the qualification to start providing institutional fund services to several types of QDIIs as onshore and offshore custodian, as well as offering fund administration services. Subsequently, at the end of 2007, we introduced our corporate trust and loans agency services to China by providing escrow agency services targeting corporate clients who are seeking to facilitate their various commercial transactions in China. In 2011, we will set up Fund Services presence in China to provide fund administration services to QDII funds at initial stage.

HSS is committed to the China market and is proactively expanding our service scope by introducing a range of international best practices in order to contribute positively to the development of this important market.

HSBC has been facilitating trade in China since 1865 and since then, trade finance has been a strong feature of the Bank’s local and international business. We now provide a full suite of trade and supply chain products covering import and export financing, trade risk mitigation, documentary processing, electronic trade products, structured trade finance and supply chain solutions. TSC serves all types of companies, including privately-owned enterprises (POEs), state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs).

HSBC is the leading trade bank in Asia. We have been named the Best Trade Bank in a number of industry awards and were also ranked first in trade finance for five straight years by our peers in the PricewaterhouseCoopers surveys for Foreign Banks in China since its inception in 2005. Today, HBCN's team of more than 300 specialists on the ground in China provides both RMB and foreign currency trade and supply chain products through our 23 branches.

Global Payments and Cash Management is a key member of HSBC’s product group and is responsible for the Sales Management, Client Management and Product Management of HSBC’s cash management solution suite to meet our target customers’ cash management needs in China.
